Hi all,
Things are REALLY gettin better for us gooners. Ppl who think Chelsea need to be relegated, have reason to celebrate. The club's facing some problems now. Im not bein a sadist here, but i'm kinda happy, and cant take this grin off my face. Two reasons :
1) We've got news that the UEFA's considering transfer restrictions for premiership clubs. Excerpts:
"Big-spending clubs could face restrictions on how much they can spend on player wages and transfers under proposals being considered by the game's leaders and European sports ministers.
The move would hit clubs with rich owners such as Chelsea as they would not be allowed to spend more than they earn in order to steal a march on their rivals.Clubs would not be allowed to spend more than they earn on transfer fees and players' wages but they would be allowed to borrow for capital investments such as new stadia or training grounds.
Chelsea and Roman Abramovich, their Russian billionaire owner, are the obvious examples of a club spending more than they earn. In the first two years of Abramovich's ownership they reported losses of £228 million and spent £276 million on transfers."
This would make a LOT of EPL fans happy. Clamping down Mr. Roman Abramovich's buying power is a dream come true for many. If this is effected, Chelsea would be the hardest hit, and We would NOT EVEN be bothered, coz we dont spend big.
2) The bigger one now. Breaking news from BBC's Panorama programme, aired last night, tells us that Arnesen, the club's director of youth development, offered to give a Middlesborough youngster £150,000 over three years to try to induce him to Stamford Bridge. Excerpts:
"Chelsea's transfer conduct was mired in fresh controversy last night when Frank Arnesen was shown on the BBC's Panorama programme making an illegal approach for a Middlesbrough schoolboy player.
The revelation comes just over a month after Chelsea were accused by their former chairman Ken Bates of illegally poaching two players from his academy at Leeds United and tapping up a third, who stayed at Elland Road."
That's really really sad, if it is proved. It could possibly lead to Chelsea being docked 3 valuable points, which in turn nullifies Drogba's superb effort against Liverpool. Really sad, but it happens when you're constantly tryin to 'tap up' talented players from other clubs. We'll see, there's still the FA investigation. Lets hope this is all cleared up with minimum fuss, and the football goes on.
A small bit of Arsenal news now, Managing Director Edelman, has said in an interview to the official website, that the club is 'set for the future, but has work to do"..This was while he announced the Club's financial figures for the year ending May 2006, on Wednesday morning.
Good Bye for now..Be back for more updates..Till then,
Cheers, God Bless..
